# HASH Mono (KH Teka Mono) (/foundations/type/mono)

<div className="hd-typeface">
  ## Specimen [#specimen]

  <TypefaceSpecimen face="mono" />

  HASH Mono gives code, commands, token names, and identifiers a consistent character width. Use KH Teka Mono when exact characters or alignment carry meaning. Keep prose, dates, counts, and names in HASH Sans; tabular figures can align numbers without changing the typeface.

  ## Available weights [#available-weights]

  Seven weights: &#x2A;*Light (200), Book (300), Regular (400), Medium (500), Semibold (600), Bold (700), and Black (900)**. Use Regular for code and identifiers, with Medium or Semibold for emphasis. Book is slightly lighter than Regular; reserve the lightest and heaviest cuts for short, generously sized specimens.

  ## OpenType features [#opentype-features]

  Each example uses the site's Regular font, with the OpenType tag beside its name. Choose **Side-by-side** to compare both states or **Overlay** to switch a larger specimen in place. In Overlay view, use the On/Off switch beside each feature name. Captions point out subtle changes; a substitution that looks identical is described without a misleading before/after pair.

    ### Numbers and notation [#numbers-and-notation]

    KH Teka Mono keeps a fixed character width, including in its proportional and tabular numeral sets. Both sets have the same digit shapes and spacing; switching between them has no visible effect. Lining and oldstyle remain separate choices that change the figures’ height and shape.

    ### Typesetting features [#typesetting-features]

    These features handle punctuation, composition, and positioning. Leave automatic composition and accent positioning enabled in normal text. The diagnostic examples deliberately use separate combining marks that remain separate glyphs in this font: watch the dot on j, the accent over H, and the stacked accents over n. Common sequences such as A plus diaeresis can become a precomposed glyph before these features run, making an Off/On comparison identical.

  The `aalt` (access all alternates) feature exposes the font's alternate glyphs to applications with a glyph palette. On the web, select a specific stylistic set using `font-feature-settings`. Leave composition and mark positioning enabled for normal text.

  ```css
  /* A single-storey a. */
  font-feature-settings: "ss11" 1;
  /* Aligned, full-height figures. */
  font-variant-numeric: lining-nums tabular-nums;
  ```

  ## Character set [#character-set]

  <TypefaceGlyphs face="mono" />

  The grid covers encoded visible characters and the numeric and stylistic variants above. Font files also contain spacing, composition, and unencoded glyphs; those are not separate letters to type. Roman and circled numerals are Unicode characters, while oldstyle and tabular figures are OpenType settings on ordinary digits.
